At Bowen Road Primary School, our approach to behaviour and learning is grounded in the DECYP values of Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Connection and Growth. These values guide classroom learning agreements and are celebrated through assembly merit awards.

To support students in making positive choices, we use three simple reflective questions known as The BR Way: Is it Safe? Is it Fair? Does it show you Care? These questions provide a common language across the school that supports consistent, calm and constructive behaviour expectations.
We support positive behaviour through restorative conversations that build empathy, reinforce learning and strengthen relationships.
At Bowen Road Primary trauma-informed practices create calm, safe, and predictable learning environments where all students feel secure and supported. Classrooms use visible routines (such as morning circles/check ins and visual timetables) to reduce uncertainty and cognitive load. Students are actively engaged through consistent structures and have access to calming or regulation spaces when needed.
Our inclusive school environment ensures that all students and families feel welcomed, supported and treated with unconditional positive regard.
We are also fortunate to partner with community organisations such as The Smith Family, whose support helps ensure families have every opportunity for their children to thrive.
